There is now a huge amount of free lute tablature available for download on the
Web. While some of the music may not be edited to the same standards of
scholarship as more formal publications it can be very useful. Here is a selection of
sources known to the Lute Society
webmaster. Contact him to add
more. Among the gems to be found are almost all the Francesco Da Milano fantasias, lots of John Dowland, almost all the Siena Lute Book, most of Terzi, Narvaez, Spinacino and much more. Much of this music can be printed using the free demo version of the lute
tablature program Fronimo, available at:

John has produced an enormous body of work for the Lute Society. Back copies of
the music supplements are available from the
secretary at a nominal cost. We are investigating the feasibility of making
this available on-line to Lute Society members. |
